Northern Trust Names New EMEA CEO

Northern Trust has named Wilson Leech as new its new chief executive for EMEA, succeeding Biff Bowman, who has held the role since 2008.

Bowman has been appointed to replace Lee Selander who is retiring at the end of this month as head of the Americas for corporate and institutional services. The appointment will see Bowman relocate to Chicago from London.

Leech has been with Northern Trust since 2004, when he joined to head the bank’s global fund services business. In his new London-based role Leech will oversee all of Northern Trust’s businesses in EMEA which provide asset servicing and asset management to institutional and ultra high net worth clients.

“The EMEA region is an area of strategic growth and continuing expansion for Northern Trust and Wilson’s experience, local expertise and strong leadership will be instrumental as we build on the contributions that Biff has made during his tenure as CEO,” said Steven Fradkin, Northern Trust’s president of corporate and institutional services.

In another recent high-profile regional appointment, at the start of September Northern Trust named Wim van Ooijen as its new country head for the Netherlands, promoting him from his previous post as head of the bank’s Dutch relationship management team. In his new role van Ooijen succeeds Eric Pouwels, who was appointed director of strategic development for EMEA.
